1880 Absinthe Lithograph

Authentic Pernod absinthe chromolithograph based on painting by Charles Maire, seen throughout France during the buzz of the Green Fairy. Canvas-mounted, still (remarkably) in original wood and gesso frame. A noted inspiration to artists including Picasso and Braque.

NB: Chromolithographic method printed one color at a time, recreated look of original oil paintings to bring quality to masses; today, a “sleeper” category in the market for great prints.

Found (amazingly intact) in Café des Promenades in Tonnerre, Jan. 2009; Certificate of Authenticity included.

Dimensions: 24½" x 20½" (with frame).

Condition: Very Good (two minute all partial cracks in canvas).
